Lay the Draw Revisited Beginners Guide

I don’t intend this to be on overly long section but feel it is important to write a short guide.
You will by now have read the system and watched the videos. This guide is all about getting you started before we move onto how you can set up cover options and interactively trade this system in play.

Tip number 1
Are you going to trade from the start or wait for a price? It is essential to decide on this. In the guide I wrote that I seldom enter a trade unless the price is 2.5 or below, however many members trade this at any price. You have to decide what you want to do. Do not get me wrong you can mix and match this a little but but you do need to have a figure in mind that you won’t go over. Once you have done this you will not berate yourself for missing a trade or feel sick when you take a big hit on a high priced game. As we move through the academy I will be showing you ways that we can set up cover that will allow you to trade higher priced games.

Tip number 2
Trade to your bankroll. Do not risk more than 5% of your bank on any one LTDR trade. My advice would actually be 2% of your bank. Remember this is the beginners section designed to get you started. LTDR is designed to steadily build your bank and form a part of your overall trading strategy. As you work through the Academy you may choose to specialise in LTDR but for now let’s just keep it simple.

Tip number 3
Record your results and analyse them. When I traded a lot of lay the draws I found that certain leagues where much more profitable for me. I have made a simple spread sheet that you can download. It also includes a staking calculator.

Tip number 4
Check the game is going in play and that it has decent liquidity. If it does not then trade the bookmakers method that I am going to detail below.

Tip number 5
Paper Trade or use tiny stakes for your first few trades.

The Bookmaker System
Ok so now to the first bonus of the Academy I am going to show you how to trade LTD via a bookmaker.
So first of all I am going to refer back to your minimum price. If you have a min price in mind then you will trade method one. If you want to trade from the start you are going to use method 2. You can use method 2 on a min price trade as well but for now keep it simple.

Method One
All we are going to do is back over 0.5 first half goals when your draw price hits. So have Bet 365 or similar open. When the draw price reaches what you would have opened at then you will back over 0.5 first half goals.  It’s as simple as that. Profit wise this can work out better or worse than laying the draw on betfair. If you get a goal immediately on opening you will get more profit but you miss out on the late goal bonus.

Method Two
We are going to back the early goal on Bet 365 or similar. The early goal is normally set between 20 and 35 minutes. How it works is quite simple if you get a goal before the allotted time you win your bet. The price is pretty much always 1.83 so a £10 stake returns £8.30 profit. If you don’t get an early goal then you will be backing over 0.5 FH goals. To make staking simple I have included an easy calculator. You can actually interactively trade this method as there is nothing making you open the second part of the trade. On games you are not watching use shots on and off target as a guideline.
Using Method Two with a min price point in mind

This is quite simple really Check the price of the draw if it is below what you would enter at then you can use method Two. Your total risk will be about the same.

Method Two Calculator
You will always be aiming to make £8.30 profit based on £10 stakes. The earlier the early goal time is set the more overall risk there will be on a trade. This is all relative to the draw price, as the higher the draw price is the earlier the goal band will be set. To show your maximum risk I have included this is the staking calculator.

Method Two Remember Tip 5
With this system more than any other you must paper trade it or use tiny stakes first of all. I have monitored many markets and used it quite a fair bit so I know it works, however it is not tested to the hilt I would like it to be.

Method Two Example
England v Slovakia
Early Goal is set at 34 mins and priced at 1.83. On 34 mins I would expect the price of over 0.5 FH goals to be over 4.5 but for arguments sake let’s say it is 4.0. A simple entry in the calculator tells us we need to put £6.10 on the over 0.5. Total risk on trade is £16.10 to win £8.30.

Bookmaker System Summary
Only use the bookmaker method when betfair is not an option. Pound for pound you will get better returns by using the normal LTDR system.

Final Thoughts
So there we have it all you need to know to get up and running on LTDR. As soon as you feel ready to move on then ask a team member for access to the next level.

Good Luck
